A project on Maritime Domain Awareness

The PROMENADE (ImPROved Maritime awarENess by means of AI and BD mEthods) project kick-off meeting, took place virtually on 13 and 14 of October 2021.

PROMENADE is an 18-months project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 under topic “SU-BES03-2018-2019-2020: Demonstration of applied solutions to enhance border and external security”. The project brings together 16 organizations from 7 European countries.

PROMENADE aims to improve solutions for the vessel tracking, behaviour analysis and automatic anomaly detection by means of the application of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data technologies, and to promote collaborative exchange of information between maritime surveillance authorities, shortening the time to market and assuring the compliance with legal and ethical regulations and norms.

Overall, PROMENADE aims to devise a System that provides a series of services for Classification of Detected Elements and Pattern Detection from one hand, and Risk Assessment and Future State Prediction on the other, in a coherent way with a user-friendly interface for end-user and practitioners.

During this two-day meeting, PROMENADE partners had the opportunity to be aware of the project’s objectives, the overall administrative and technical procedures, the identification of the key challenges per WP which presented by the corresponding WP Leaders and to thoroughly discuss the project’s detailed plans and activities.

Further information on PROMENADE is available on the project website.
